What are highschool teens interested in?
I am student teaching at a local high-school here in my state and this coming Thursday I have to teach a lesson within the topic of mysteries. I want to relate to the students by bringing up mysterious or unsolvable teen issues that we, as a class, can discuss and theorize about. Any ideas?
Some environments are more or less tolerant, depending on your geographic region, but here's one:
"Why is it still so commonplace for people to refer to a perceived less desirable *anything* as being 'gay?' For example: two kids discussing the color choice of a shirt and one says to the other, 'That's so gay.'"
Or
"Why are some kids ridiculed for dressing differently or speaking differently or liking different things from the accepted 'norm?'"
At a more general level:
"Why do prejudices exist? What can be done to address the issues caused by prejudices?"

I like it at a more general level, why do prejudices exist is a great topic to cover in class! Im going to do that for a future lesson, as of now we are going to tackle the issue of love and relationships; after we're going in to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet! Thanks for the comments
