...oh, and let me also add the following:

1. Toyota celica: the newer ones with those ridiculous round headlights and heinously cut fenders

2. MR2 Spyder: the ugliest p.o.s. convertible on the market today. Which is the front end and which is the back?

3. New Montero: do you believe those stupid humps in the front fenders? Is that suppose to be sporty or something?

4. And yes, The Viper IS UGLY: Here's why, the rear end is too friggin' wide with not enought height or thickness. Ferrari's and Lambo's have really wide rear ends, but they balance it out by making the rear end a little thick also, with a little lift right at the top, where or the windshield ends or where the truck ends. ALSO, the front end is too bulbous, roundish looking, so, so, so typical of American cars "trying" to look sporty. I mean, take a look at the porsches, ferrari's, lambos, etc., all of those cars have steeply raked front ends, very sporty, not at all obtrusive or clumsy looking. Compared to the others, the Viper looks like a spatula with a big balloon tide to the handle end. The Viper, however fast it may be (and speed does not make up for ugliness by the way), looks unsophisticated, unrefined, and well, just plain cheap.

5. Xterra: someone here says the xterra is ugly. while I can't deny nor confirm that, I can say that they are not fooling me with that stupid "stadium seating" b.s., I know there's no leg room back there, and "stadium seating" is not going to hide that sad fact.

6. I think I already mentioned the trans ams, camaros, and all buicks and oldsmobiles.

7. the new Mustang: all I can say is...just look at that p.o.s. oh, when will they ever learn?

8. VW Passat: ugly...and just what the heck does passat mean?

I'll post more as I see them next time I hit the streets.

I'm still trying to figure out how a company which can produce a car this pretty...

...can produce a car this ugly

Perhaps BMW hired some veteran AMC stylists who designed this

OK, I live in a suburb of Detroit, home to (at one time) some of the best automotive designs ever (mid '50's Chevy's, first Mustang) but now we are caught in some kind of time warp. Seems many auto manufacturers are trying to turn back the clock with these "retro" designs. Now I kind of understand the new Beetle and the PT Cruiser does resemble a late 1930's sedan delivery, but the one I don't understand is the new Thunderbird. Granted it's a two seat roadster but I've seen them on the road here (pre-production with manufacturer tags on them) and they are BIG! I may get flamed for this, but it looks like they started at the rear with all good intentions, worked forward towards the instrument panel and ran out of funding. Hence, the Lincoln LS dash and powertrain, and a front end styled like someone started on it, then left early for the day! I'm sure they will sell everyone they can produce but like most american designs, they last a few years then begin to get bloated with some plastic body cladding. God this feels good to get out of my system!

The BMW M Coupe is one of the very few cars that I'd call a work of art. It's style is so unusual, so daring, and at the same time has the balls to back it up.

Maybe it's an acquired taste or something.
