Default What Were These Guys Thinking???

2 Frenchmen decide to stow away in the cargo bay of a 777. They depart from Paris and intend to get off in Shanghai. 10 minutes before landing, when the landing gear deploys, both men fall to their deaths. One guy falls through some guy's house. The other landed in a field... what were these people thinking???

Uh.....Cool 3D graphics don't make it true.

<2 Frenchmen decide to stow away in the cargo bay of a 777>

The forward and aft cargo compartments are sealed from the landing gear wells on a B777. There is no way to exit into the gearwell from the Cargo bays.

<...landing gear deploys, both men fall to their deaths...>

If they were in the wheel wells, then the fall didn't kill them cause they were already dead. First, it's not pressurized...-54C and no way to breath tends to shorten ones life. Second, the chances of surviving a gear retraction is slim at best. The Boeing engineers didn't leave much space for anything but landingear in the wheel/gear wells. If you did get up there, the 3000psi that the struts operate at would give preference to the landing gear.

Nothing personal, but after reading one too many issues USA Today (aka "McNews") I have a low tolerance for bullshit in the media. (Plus the 777 is something I do know about).

cheers -
