i think i still liked the game it came with: combat. i used to love playing the tanks with the ricochet bullets or the planes with guided missiles. air-sea-battle was fun too.

Ahhh, back in the day. I remeber my Radio Shack TRS-80 with a cassette tape "mass storage" system.

My favorite Atari 2600 game was Pit Fall. Of course this thread screams for a repost of the "Video Computer System" video by the Brazillian band "Golden Shower". The soundtrack alone will bring back fond memories.

Enjoy!

HolyI'm having wicked flashbacks! I forgot all about jumpman. I remember going to my friends (they always got everything first) and playing pac-man for hours. We would put VH-1 in the stereo 8track and it would play over and over. We also played missile command, space invaders, asteroids. I remeber the latest J.geils playing over and over too it was the centerfold one with freeze frame on it.

Even though I was exactly the right age to have a 2600, I think I was probably too smart to ever want one. I mean seriously, they were totally crappy even the first year they were released. I remember looking at the 2600 port of Pac Man, and laughing my ass off. They couldn't even make a simple game like Pac Man look decent.

My friend had an Intellivision, and those most definitely OWNED the 2600 in every possible way. Sea Battle, Utopia, even Triple Action were all much much better than any 2600 title.

This is the hardware I had, and I still have most of it...

Sinclair ZX-81
TI 99/4A
Mattel Aquarius
Atari 800XL
Atari 600XL
And tons of Atari 8-bit hardware

Intellivision now that was a system, I still have a 2600 in the garage somewhere, it worked when we stored it away, as for games man I can;t even remember any of them other then the maze game, just random mazes over and over agian with little dots that chaced you around at the same time.
