What is your body fat %?
Hey guys,
I've got a Tanita body fat scale also. I'm 33, 6'1" and weigh 168. On regular setting the Tanita shows that I have about a 16% bodyfat and on athletic it shows about 8%. Body fat calipers show 23%!!! I think its because the formula takes age into consideration.

ahh.. one of the downsides. when i lost 30lbs from working out and eating right, that's one of the first things i noticed, i was always cold. not so much when overweight, i'd be able to hang a cold evening in SF w/o issue when i had the extra pounds.
as for having "some" body fat - you might want to look into/research an EFA or CLA supplement.
if you were to stop working out for - 15 weeks - then you'll start to experience muscle atrophy. don't be afraid to take a week off here and there, it's actually better for you to do that once in a while.
keep it up!

According to the not-so-accurate BMI (Body Mass Index) Calculator I am OBESE!!!
Muscle weighs more than fat...guess that means I am kinda jacked
You need calipers to get an accurate determination, that is just bologna.

the BMI is sort of on the obsolete end of measurements, it really doesn't take into account what the weight is. the classic example of how outdated the BMI is Barry Sanders. at 5' 8" and 200 lbs, he'd be a considered as having Grade 2 obesity (Kg/m2 ratio of 30)
calipers are just one way of measuring body composition, but it's the most common.

The only time I had it checked was with calipers and it was ten years ago I was about 9% but calipers are not the most accurate measurement, water displacement tests are the most accurate. But since the process is not as easy and take a little bit of expensive equipment including a big water tub it is not usually done except for professional athletes like at the NFL scouting combine.
I know it is more accurrate but I am not sure if being a truer measure means it usually falls higher or lower than caliper tests.
I aint fat now, but I am sure I am well above the reading I had ten years ago. I was downright boney before I started to lift and have not been able to run distances since knee surgery.
