What Was Your Favorite College Course?
I was talking with a coworker this afternoon and we got onto the subject of college courses. I thought it might be interesting to find out what courses people here have enjoyed most, and why.
Some will probably say that they enjoyed a course because it was easy, others because they learned a lot, still others because of the babe who sat next to them.
I even expect that we'll get some stupid responses from witlings, though I hope not.
Mine was probably Algebraic Topology, because the subject is fascinating and the professor excellent.

I enjoyed a course I took at Duke called "The End of the World". It was an English/Science course (go figure) that examined texts from different eras pertaining to supposed apocalypses over time. There are several others, but I remember this one the most.
Believe it or not, I also enjoyed classes that I took about the Gospels/New Testament at St. Joe's. Interesting look at religious texts.

As one of my free electives I took Human Sexuality. Great course, I was one of about 12 guys in the class of 100+ women. Unfortunately, but also fortunately, I ended up with some very hot female friends.

. . . Human Sexuality.
(I'm almost surprised that it showed up only as early as the third response.)
i can't really pick only one, but i'll list my top five:
[programming languages & compilers]
functional programming (lots of recursion!) using ocaml. great professor.
[intro to abstract algebra]
lots of interesting topics/concepts, quite different from the calc stuff we did right before. probably the *only* math class i liked. and math was one of my majors!
[plant pathology]
diseases that affected plant life, and also issues such as genetically modified organisms and natural selection.
[international conflicts]
lots of crazy stuff goin on in the world that most americans don't know about. opened my eyes a bit, but they're still only partly open. no, it's not cuz i'm asian
[greek mythology]
the iliad was awesome!

I took quite a few interesting courses. I even remember the course codes for some
Natural Resources and Environmental Studies - National Park Systems - NRES 104 I think or was it 108. Learned all about John Muir and Hetch Hetchy etc... Very interesting course and learned all about the national park system. It was a two hour elective course but quite enjoyable. Watching videos about nature was nice too.
Human Sexuality - This course was more difficult than expected but interesting. Definitely took a turn when learning about tribal mutilation....
Drug Use and Abuse - Again interesting, but harder than expected.
Greek Mythology - Greek Heroes(probably the same one as Rustywave) - Great course that forced you to read great books
Economics and Law - Econ 258? Great course on applying economic principles to the law, and the economics of why people do the things they do.
Advertising 281 - Introduction to Advertising - This was a FUN course. We just talked about advertising concepts and methods of copy etc. The instructor brought in guest speakers from Starcom and Leo Burnett. Met the guys who developed the Altoid Brand from next to nothing. Watched the BMW short films on the gigantic projector screen every other week. Created our own marketing campaign for whatever product we desired. Quite fun stuff.
Good times. I miss the college days.
