Default Whatever happened to AOL?

I remember about 15 years ago i was using this everyday.. it was nice because you could find free software (ie:WAREZ), hottie pix, etc. and chat virtually in any "room" about any topic. this was back in the mid 90's when only dial up was available. it would be amazing if something like that came along with today's high speed connections.

im wondering if it went down due to all the pirated software on there.

I can tell you that AOL totally missed the high-speed internet bandwagon when it was catching on. That, and the Time Warner merger, killed the company. When I was working there, it was in 98-99... right on the tail end of everyone with stock options getting rich overnight and showing up to their tech support job the next day in a new BMW. Those were the days...
