what's the best way to defog the windshield without using AC?
Just use a regular bar of soap on the windshield. (Some regular liquid hand or dish soap works too, but if you use the solid bar soap it seems to last longer.) You just rub the bar on the window a bit (if it's the liquid kind, just put a little dab of it on the window), spread it around good, then buff it off with a clean, dry cloth.
The thin film soap coating breaks the surface tension on the water, so the moisture that accumulates on the windshield forms into larger droplets that you can see through just fine. Pretty much the same technique as that RainX Antifog product, but handsoap costs 1/100th of it (Or FREE at your nearest public restroom!
).
