DVD Shrink or DVD XCopy. DVD Shink is free online. As long as you're not selling them and you're "backing them up", you're fine.

As for a DVD drive, go with this one. It's one of the best and is a bargain:

As for media, go with a name brand 8x speed for now until they come out with 16x. Don't cheap out on media. I like Verbatim or TDK.

Your best bet would be to post your full name and address in your thread when you post questions such as this so that the feds will have 5 minutes less work to do when they track you down for copyright violations

while we're at it why don't we figure out a way we could launder money into federal bank accounts and wire transfer them to an offshore account in mexico?

however, DVD+R's are not fully compatible with most DVD players out there, eventhough they hold more space, I reccomend using DVD-Rs if the DVD youre backing up will fit on the disc (which it most likely will).

Is it really illegal to back up DVDs that you rent? By definition, renting means temporarily owning. So if I temporarily own this DVD, can't I back it up for my own use? On the other hand, making copies and then selling them is and definitely should be illegal.

btw, guys, i am only kidding. this thread was meant to be a parody to all the DVDR help request threads where people claim that they merely want to "backup" their DVD collections...
