I am leaning towards the companies HP, Epson, and Canon. Thanks

I am partial to Canon. Obviously, print quality is the most important. However, you should also consider the cost of replacement cartridges.

Samsung ML1740. Under 100 bucks after rebate. A great black and white laser printer.

you can get a decent hp for that ammount. hp is practically giving them away with all the rebates you get. cartridges can be a little on the expensive side though. i believe overe here its about $30 for a black cartrdge and about $45 for color

That thing is junk. First off it comes with a "starter" toner cartridge. You'll be replacing that within the first 1-2 months at ~$100. Second, the print quality is horrible...almost as bad as an inkjet.

If you want budget laser, your better bet is to go with the Brother model or an entry level HP.

You get 3-4000 sheets out of the starter cartridge - and there is zero quality difference between it and my wifes HP 2300.

I know 4 folks with them. One guy who bought a demo had a problem and returned it. It is the best laser for the money hands down.
