Then why the abstract algebra and number theory? Or did you switch to chemistry/mb after experiencing those two classes?

(I, for one, enjoyed both classes, and had great professors for both. My algebra teacher had the Fundamental Theorem of Group Homomorphisms printed on the back of his t-shirt so that we could see it whilst he was writing on the board. )

I'm the top dot, or lowest on the poll , I didn't even need Algebra to graduate High-School. Having said that, I don't think I've ever needed any "real" math either ('cept when you helped me with the Top Speed equation, and thanks again). My time at college was spent on Philosophy/Religion/Psychology/History.

I am more of an English/History person. That being said, the highest Mathematics class I took in college was Probability & Statistics.

My wife on the other hand is working on her M.S. in Mathematics. She is taking some really weird stuff that makes no sense to me what-so-ever. Then again ...I never saw the fun in numbers. I would much rather talk about the battle tactics of World War II anyday.

I'm taking Linear Algebra right now, which seems pretty cool. Teaching myself Discrete Math was a hoot, since my teacher didn't know what the hell he was doing (first C ever in my history of math). I don't know where Discrete Math would stand among those listed.

I'm teaching linear algebra (and differential equations) right now.

Discrete math--combinatorics and the like--would fall in the "other pure math" category, I figure.

Highest was a 3rd floor math class. But it was in Denver, so you could add 5280 ft to the elevation.

I took through Differential Equations but it hasn't been used in so long I feel like I'd have trouble with basic Algebra nowadays.
