I know many of you aren't going to want to read this but, we've actually been doing pretty good lately. Of course, once I post this, it'll make a total 180 and skyrocket back up but, here goes anyway.

Our gasoline prices have actually been going down for the past couple of weeks. I filled my S2000 up on 93 octane fuel at the amazing price (boy, I never thought I'd ever hear myself put it that way!) of $1.92/gal. Regular is going for 20 cents cheaper than that.

No from me!

This could just be my imagination, but it looks like the oil producing states get a little break, when compared to other states - Texas $1.92 - Pennsylvania (an oil producer $2.04) and most everyone else is $2.30 and up. Or perhaps it's just a rural vs. metro thing - Those of you posting from the cities seem to generally be paying more for gas.

I know it seems that way sometimes and lately, I'd tend to agree with you but it hasn't always been that way. I've got family that live in Missouri and Illinois and a few years ago, I was up there visiting and fuel prices I encountered enroute through Arkansas and southern Missouri and Illinois (basically farm land) were running 15 to 20 cents cheaper than we were at the time and we've got oil refineries sitting all over the place around here.

I've never been able to figure out how they set prices in a given region of the country.

I have often wondered what the precise formula was for determining the fuel price. Some how I envision the Corp. Oil execs getting together, have a anc a and decide the prevailing price based on some crystal ball reading. Oh wait a minute, they can't do that, it would be "price fixing" and we all know they wouldn't break the law!
