Default What's Your Source for World News?

I like to read as much as I can fromas many different sources as possible. I also like to hear perspectives that aren't entirely tainted by the (reasonably justified) US propaganda machine...

Any suggestions?

The Economist magazine has the absolute best coverage of any news magazine. Lots of background and context. Excellent analysis. Very dense and very informative, makes Newsweek/Time/USNews look like kindergarten magazines.

MSNBC.com
FoxNews.com (low volume news coverage, but occasionally has different stories than the other sites)
CNN.com
www.andrewsullivan.com (he always has great links)
www.slate.com (background, summaries of newspaper and magazine coverage)
www.stratfor.com (often has excellent analysis)

I also check to see how the wind is blowing at Slashdot.org. They have large numbers of pseudo-socialists and clueless experts, which generally mirrors the left-wing college opinion.

CNN
BBC

Foxsports is just a bit too biased for me, they say some ridiculus things.

cnn.com - obvious reasons

sina.com - for the chinese or taiwanese perspective, they have reporters working on both sides. it's funny how sometimes you read "our army is standing by for a communist invasion." and you click on the next headline and it says "our great people's liberation army is standing by to liberate taiwan with force!" what they want to liberate the already democratic people and government on taiwan from is anyone's guess.

asahi.com - for the japanese perspective, and to keep my japanese up to date.

CBC News World International, channel 366 on DirecTV.

Very very good coverage, has some strange local contacts Afghanistan that actually have interesting footage etc.

Considering its a Canadian news source, it tends to be a little less jingoistic. Still correct in its slant, but a little more interesting at times

Thanks... Yeah, I live on the CNN site, but it seems too... predictable for me.

I like BBC, Reuters, and Washington Post. I've even gotten some very interesting insight from places like Janes, Salon.... etc.
