When saving pics, always defaults to "untitled.bmp" now, instead of actual filenames

When I try to save pictures on the web, I would either right-click --> save picture as, then save it OR just move over the picture until the the icons appear on the top left of the picture and then click on the disk icon to save. When I do this, the file name to be saved is already prefilled in the textfield with the actual name of the picture file (e.g. reds2000.jpg or fasts2k.jpg).

But now, every single time I try to save a picture on a webpage, it always prefills the textfield as "untitled.bmp." I've been running out of HDD space lately and thought that might have had something to do with it however, even after clearing up hard disk space, it still does this, so I don't know if limited HDD space and defaulting to "untitled.bmp" was just a coincidence. Not only does this occur when I try to save pics in the photo gallery forum but with any webpage with pics on it - so it definitely has nothing to do with the website, but something is wrong with the computer. This problem happened before on my other computer as well and had Win98 SE (this has XP Pro) so I don't think it is an OS related problem but since this happened on both of my computers, it leads me to believe that this problem could be pretty common. Sometimes, if I keep hitting refresh on the browser then try to save it, the filename is correct. But this doesn't work all the time.

Anyone know a fix for this? It's just annoying now since I have to name files myself and it only gives me .bmp as my only choice. Thanks.
