White collar criminals regularly fail to pay their court mandated restitution.

Please. Write your Senator, and write your Representatives. This is ridiculous. It doesn't need to be a very long letter either, perhaps just a copy of the article and a few sentences urging them to pass laws mandating JAIL TIME if they fail to pay up. Maybe even a few words regarding an in-depth review of their financial transactions that occured during the criminal investigation to uncover attempts to hide their wealth.

This is obscene.

 

One of the poorly kept secrets in the white collar crime world is that the feds generally don't have the resources to target folks who take in < 5 million a year in mortgage fraud.

They may discover such things but rarely spend the time to prosecute the case to the fullest extent possible.
