Yep Jersey...TurboTax is the way to go.

We have investments, rental property, and other complicated stuff. Works great. I even do my mom's taxes. Accountant used to charge us $400 and $600 respectively to complete the forms. I can do them both for $60 and a few hours of my time.

If you have any complications, just remember- Garbage in, garbage out. A CPA or good tax preparer can save you his/her fee if you miss deductible items.
(Caveat- I'm a CPA)

I do my own, for personal and my business. Not all that complicated. I keep all my work in Quickbooks Pro, at the year end just pull up the accountant's copy for state and federal taxes.

i agree 100%. some people don't realize that real estate taxes are part of their itemized deductions or the state wage taxes withheld are itemized deductions, etc.......

I just happened to be an "almost cpa" (passed the test, but 500 working hours short of my official license... I HATE CPA's!!!!!), so I have no problems doing my own or helping others with semi-easy questions....

I love comments like "anyone making over $70k is paying 49% taxes".

Jeez, if you passed the exam, that's half the battle. Find someone else to work for. I'm my own boss and leave for home when I feel like it.
