Who here hunts
hey...a friend stopped by yesterday with a dead deer in his truck
he shot it...and his son gutted it...the blood was actually all over his pants
I would be hard pressed to say that I would not hesitate to cut up even a dead deer.
For those who hunt...
what was the first kill like?
do you find it difficult to cut something up?
im curious as to why one might get into it ... any insight would be appreciated

Did the dove opener Sept 1. My sons ages 9 & 7 plucked and gutted them for me. Deer season is Oct 11 in D11. Going on Saturday to sight in the 7 Mag. They will go with me to learn how to stalk and scout the mountain.
They need to know where their meat comes from, not some pretty little bundle from the store. They each have shotguns, hand guns, rifles . which is hard to do here in the Republik of (tree huggers, pvssies, & vegans) Kalifornia even more so since I live at the beach.
Stuff dies everyday, what's the difference between on well placed round that drops Bambi or being ripped to shreds in the wild by another animal.
I have been shot and stabbed as a young punk so blood is no big deal. Killing anything is sad but quickly forgotten when the bird of love (doves) or Bambi is burning on the grill. Brothers wife is a chef, she comes up with some tasty ideas.
Deer, bear , quail, pig , doves, ducks it all dies once a year and ends up in my grill

Check some hunting forums.
Go to your states Fish & Game web site. Kailfornia is full of tree hugges so ours sucks compared to other pro-hunting states.
Get your hunting license, hit the guns stores if your state allows them.
Hit the fields, sight in Bambi, pulled trigger, bring a sharp knife
Cutting Bambi raw (freshly killed) or cooked is the same, just use a sharp good quality knife.
I have hunted in the past. it is something I would do to feed my family if/when the time came but not something I would actively seek out for enjoyment.
I understand the craft and "sport" involved but I feel that most hunting (baiting, scenting, decoys, calls and treestands or blinds with high powered weaponry) is grossly in favor of the hunter and offers no sport or talent.
if you go out and track an animal and get close enough to kill it with a simple bow or go all crazy and do it tarzan style with a knife in your loin cloth (LOL nobody has the balls to do that)...then we are getting to a more evenly matched battle and that would demonstrate true sport and talent.
take the technology and all the deceit out of the equation and we have a legit craft called "Hunting" to be proud of. The rest of it is just slaughter to me.
