Why 18 yr. olds should be allowed to drink
I'm not saying we should lower the age of drinking, I just think it's dumb that you can do everything but drink at the age of 18. How can you give a kid a gun before a drink? That makes zero sense.
I'm 22 for the record.

It is a matter of capabilities. They can handle a gun, under the strict supervision the armed forces gives, much better than they can handle the effects of alcohol where there is no supervision but other drunks.
It is amazing how your alcohol consumption drops as you age.
Is that because you get smarter? I don't know.

All I know is I have to go to court on June 7th because the cops were called for a noise complaint last night. We were at a pool in a townhome complex that I live in. When he got there it was obvious I had been drinking so he breathalized me and wrote me a citation for having alcohol in my system. Yet did NOT give me anything for the noise. Only reason I know thats why he was there was he said that as soon as he got there, only to follow up with Have you been drinking. Stupid I think. I'm 20.
Or maybe last fall when I got a minor in posession while camping in the middle of the desert...Who does this hurt? Again....Thats dumb.
In conclusion my opinion is they should sell alcohol to 18 year old only in stores gas station etc. Should be 21 for bars and clubs where they would be tempted to drive home after partying. Just an idea. Basically have like a graduated system much like many states do with the driver's license. Example This way at 18 you could drink out at the pool or have a beer at hooters. However you cannot goto a bar and smashed and decide to drive home. Yes I know you can get smashed at hooters and drive home too I'm just kinda thinking out loud.

So you'd rather they sell alcohol to 18 year olds where they go right out to the car and drink while driving rather than in a confined space like at bars so they won't annoy you when you are drinking.
How annoyed will you be when a drunk driver kills you, your family, your friends, your parents, whatever?

18 might be the time honored age of majority, but that doesn't make it so. You can't just pick an age, unless you pick very high, and say at this age people will be mature enough to make responsible decisions. Everyone matures at a different rate and although there are a few kids who are very mature at 18, most don't actually make it until their early 20's.
18 is way too young to know enough to make good decisions &/or be responsible for you actions. At that age you are still a kid in adult clothes. At that age you don't know what you don't know. You don't even know enough to ask the right questions.
My 21 year old son just basically told me all I wrote above as he apologized for some of the grief he's put me thru. That was prompted by his having to run with a younger crowd all summer as he took an externship in Florida. He recognized himself in those kids and was appalled at their thought processes. He said he was very embarrassed at many of his choices and the things he'd done.
And who says a toast has to be alcoholic? What's so special about alcohol that it is required? A toast isn't about the drink, it's about the sentiment.

Should your kid be able to be drafted if he's a moron - immature-?
If you want to make it 21 for everything. Drive, drink, die, vote get the death penalty that's fine too, but pick one age not a graduated step. Drive a 5 ton killing machine when you're 16 then vote for the president and die for the country at 18 and then you can have a beer when your 21 if your still alive.

By the time someone is 18 their parents should've given them the basic tools of adulthood, if not their screwed anyway.

FYI: They can buy a gun in almost every state in the union at 18 without a drill sergent oh yeah and they can carry a conceled firearm leagly in 49 states, local laws not withstanding.

But they're mature enough to buy guns? Or join the Marines
