Default Why?

So yea, I was watching the Hungarian Grand Prix today..... Why can't Speed Channel upgrade and broadcast F1 in HD?!?!?!

It would be so nice on my setup..... The only HD F1 I get is through my PS3 when I am playing......

Just venting.... Anyone know when F1 might be coming to HD?

Damn you Speedchannel.....

Three races earlier this year that were broadcast on fox were in HD. It didn't look as crisp as I'm used to HD being, but it looked a lot better than speed. We're lucky to have a network showing F1, there's no way they could justify upgrading to HD just for F1. Once the average NECKCAR fan can afford an HD tv, then you might see speed in HD.

It looked upconverted to me, but it was definitely not stretched. It was a native widescreen picture, but it just didn't look like HD as far as the detail. That article pretty much confirms that. Thanks.

Well from what I understand, Speed nor Fox is really to blame, It is F1 themselves for not having their races equipped with the camera's and audio equipment to capture the race in HD. Fox and Speed simply have the rebroadcasting rights for the US territories. I believe Fox just unconverted the standard signal for HD. HD has not really caught on in Europe yet, it is mainly a US/Japan thing.

I did happen to find this though....

Yes, as this man said, it has nothing to do with Speed or Fox. Both of these stations simply rebroadcast the feed provided to them, which is of course, not in HD.
