Why can't people learn to speak English?

You may be right about the usage of "fish" and "fishes" .

"...where I'm AT"
"...real good..." or "...think different..." (and dropping "ly" for adverbs in general)
pronouncing "accessory" as "assessory" (or in my business "accession as "assession")

We (nearly) all know that the pl. of "goose" is "geese"; however, I believe the pl. of "mongoose" is "mongooses".

Anyone know for sure?

I hate the way people use "myself" such as "John and myself went to the ballgame." Would you say "Myself went to the ballgame?" What about "Dick should email it to John and myself"? Would you say "Dick should email it to myself?"

WTF?!

Can we assume that you pronounce it correctly: ee-leen-wah?

and "RE-LI-TOR" when it's spelt REALTOR.
Apart from people frequently mispronouncing realtor, they also misuse it. A realtor is not the same as a real estate agent; "realtor" is a registered trademark of the National Board of Realtors: the word means that you are a member of that organization.

And what about mooses? Why aren't they meese?

I am amazed that anyone (native English speaker or otherwise) can speak this language correctly. I am in awe of people who have to learn it as a second (or third) language. Although we don't have the masculine and feminine word issue that languages such as French and Spanish do.

Isn't a lot of this covered in the Pet Peeves thread from awhile ago? (Is "awhile" really a word?)

I can't stand these phrases, among many others:

HOT WATER HEATER

ATM MACHINE

IRREGARDLESS
