Why is Comtemporary furniture so $$$$$

If I had money, I'd buy a lot of stuff from dwr.com (Design Within Reach). Apparently, it's not within MY reach yet 
Awesome stuff though. I'm sure discounts can be had too. The saleswoman was cool enough to show me which ones I should get at dwr and which ones I should just get from ikea (that looks 99% like the ones in dwr). Someday.

I know nothing about furniture other than we had the same couch/love seat since 1993 or so... i just took those to my new place... they are still comfortable.... i think they may have been $1500 for the pair back 14 years ago..... I am a cheap ass when it comes to anything except for my daily driven car.....
