because the producers of "COPS" are asshats and many other cities no longer allow them to film with their law enforcement departments.

COPS filmed one in denver. before it was aired, denver PD asked them to leave out vital info and operating procedure as to keep perps from getting the upper hand.
producers basically said screw you it's our footage, it's good footage and we gonna air it.
the word has spread to most major police dept. and thats why COPS is only filmed in select few cities.

 

didn't it start in fort worth before going to the other cities? I remember some of the first episodes came from there.

 

They've been in Alaska, California, near Boston, in Texas, Washington State, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Las Vegas. These are just some that come to mind.

 

Some of the best episodes were filmed in Alberquerque... Them mother ****ers are nuts!!!

 

There shot in Socal a lot. Mostly San Bernadino and Riverside county (Pomona, Riverside, Ontario, etc...)

 

I thought it was filmed before a live studio audience.

I am a First 48 guy myself. If you watch the show, it seems there is a murder in Memphis every five minutes.

 

Im from Florida, and trust me they film in FL because they can have the film constantly rolling on retarded ass criminals. Ive actually seen my mom on cops...thats how bad it is.

 

Filming crime is their business and since there is so much in Florida business is GOOD!
