And you think it was "normal" for that car to do what it did? And you think it did it with minor, inexpensive mods?
I can just see it now ............................. Run 11's, go back to pit area, fix what broke or wasn't working right, go run another 11.xx, go back to the pits, repeat fix or tweak, etc, etc, go home, next day do big fix and more tweaking ($$$$$$$$$), repeat every weekend. In due time, wonder where all that oil is going to or coming from, buy more tires ($$$$$$). I know .............. I used to do it.
I think your MULLET is pulling on your scalp a bit too much and causing some restricted brain cell activity.

xviper - The car in the video ran a 10 second quarter, when I refered to "Normal" cars, I am talking about the fbodys that run low 12/High 11 second passes with 12 bolt rear ends, intake, exaust, ect.

I am sorry that you can not like other cheap performance cars, thought they might seem lowley to your former ZR-1 and Viper, to some of us without that much money, it is "Cool" to be able to buy cars that can be that fast, and streetable. Imports cannot do this, and if they can, I have knot seen it. I am refering to 10sec passes, or for that matter, 12s/11s with such few mods, only the elite japanese supercars; 300zx, Supra, ect can do this.

I am perfectly aware that FBodys are not they best handling all around car out there, but they handel very well, and as I am sure you are aware, while they were made, were picked as best buy/bang for buck performance cars.

Any car that is that fast, import/domestic will break every once and while, this is a given when you modify your car.

My mullet? I do not think so, mabey your narrowminded look at the automotive world is hindering your view.

With all of this said, I am not really a domestic car person. However, I can appreciate what other cars can do...

The way I see it is that an Fbody was built to go fast. That means using those large V8's... a car like the S2000 was built for entirely different purposes.

It would be foolish to compare the two in that regard.

That goes for just about any Japanese car really.

I am not comparing the two, I just made this thread to say why I believe that domestics wil always be cool.

EDIT: If it looked like I compared the two, I did not mean to do so.

Too many people are so prejudiced when it comes to autos. I am with you, SCSI. I may be a bit more favorable towards domestics, because they are so capable for so much less money.

American cars are overbuilt in many ways. For example, I can push 400 HP before I need to upgrade engine internals. If I stay away from slicks, my rear end will be fine. My factory clutch will stay together just fine running hot laps at a drag strip (so far, so good). How many imports from anywhere can make that claim? Considering the rest of the car, I have seen many Hondas, Toyotas, Mitsubishis, and others after a low speed accidents, and the two I have had in my Mustangs resulted in the import with significant damage, and the Mustang with maybe a scratch on the bumper. That is not to say that all imports are crap, just not as sturdy as many American cars in many ways.

Grrr typed up a nice response with Skuzzy(PW name), but I can only post every 1800 seconds.

I agree with you mostly, some imports; DSMs, Supras, ect. Can go very fast for very cheap, but they can go the distance like V8s can.

Anyway, I still like imports better.

You don't take humour too good, do ya? The "mullet" thing was a JOKE! The rest was a response to your original post as stated, nothing more, nothing less. I've owned Mustangs and GTO's too, To knock off a second and a half to two seconds from the quarter mile is not done with simple cheap bolt ons. Your rear end swap is NOT a simple bolt on. It is either a gear swap or a complete rear end job.
In the spirit of the way you presented your post was how I responded. You put that vid in your post to make it look like that's what can be done with simple, cheap bolt ons. You made it look like what the vid presented was something that was easily and "normally" done to an F-body car. It is NOT. I have nothing against cheaper American cars. I've owned lots. My rebuttal was how you perceived them (based on your "exact" original comments.
If you had put in your additional comments from your 2nd response INTO your original post, I would have responded accordingly and differently. Coming back later with what you "meant" to say and crying foul at me is .......... well .........
