Also I hate to tell them, but you can rip their CD's with 3rd party MP3 rippers with impunity and STILL put them on your Ipod.

 

California is suing sony and I think NY is going to as well. Servers them right. I am hoping someone was fired for this whole fiasco.

I had a Sony digital camera just up and quit working. No one in town could figure out what the problem was either.

I notice in the Sunday paper each week that their products are priced a lot higher than some other brands that I would consider to be equivalent.

 

Sony used to be the cachet player in tech - good quality stuff that worked. Unfortunately, worries of intellectual capital piracy have stifled its creativity and are leading it to ruin.

Sony's ATRAC schema was a complete flop, its Blue-Ray discs and players are ridiculously compromised by anti-piracy schemes, and its online music store, quite frankly, sucks with its limited library and dumb use policies.

Sony's own music artists are rioting and resigning with other labels so they can be on iTunes since Sony will not license its artists to the most popular online music stores, it hobbles all its technology into a web where the consumer must use Sony products, and it is falling ever farther behind the technology curve.

From what I've seen, the XBox 360 is going to beat the snot out of the PS3, and these days Sony is even rebrands Samsung monitors as its own.

SONY televisions are simply the best in the market. PS3 is light years ahead of XBOX 360 in terms of technology and raw power. However their executives have made tragic errors that has made the rest of us think... what the hell is SONY thinking? ATRAC, DRM, their music store...

In the end, I will still buy SONY products.

 

My old Sony Clie was full of proprietary crap that i've hacked through. Now I tend to be a lot more careful when buying Sony products, i want to avoid their proprietary technologies.

 

We will have to see about that. The PS3 may be light years ahead in programming difficulty... It's probably a lot harder to program for cells than cores but I'll wait until both systems are out to decide.

That their marketing is more important than quality?

 

Sony may have had the best TV's and sound 10 years ago, but today it simply isn't true. To get the quality of sound you get from a $400 yamaha Surround Sound you have to buy an $800 sony. Most of their TV's are rebranded from other manufactures now, so the imagined Sony quality no longer exists. Just the price the tag.

 

Never liked Sony audio and there are certainly better choices for TVs. The thing to remember is that no Brand makes the best TV in every price range.
