I was reading an article on my local newspaper's website about how the American Medical Assoication is considering establishing conditions stemming from online gaming as a mental disorder. I've heard of people spending hours playing online but never really knew how serious it could get. I, for one, don't and never have played one of those games (WoW, etc.), but definitely used to play Nintendo, Sega, etc. like that. Here's the article link:

We may have reduced that amounts of Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, etc. in this country, but to some extent, the addictive personality is addictive personality.

I knew guys in college that would set up their dorm room and play Counterstrike and smoke weed with like five other friends all the time. I imagine the same diagnosis applies to groups as well?

Once again, depends. . . did they do that for a stretch, like over a weekend, or a weeknight, then resume their normal lives afterwards?

Were, say, 4 of them ready to be done at some point, and the 5th guy just stuck around, and skipped class?

I nearly had the perfect opportunity to vulture an absolutely hot chick once when I saw her giving an associate of mine a lap dance. . . and he was STILL playing Tekken through the whole thing. *sigh*

 

If it was Street Fighter II I would have given her the ice grill too.
