Default Will the DMV find out if I dont file an SR1 form?

I spun the s2000 out and slapped a curb.. damage is over 750... but nobody was injured, no property damage to anything other than teh car... and no police came... how will the DMV find out if I dont file? I dont want a point going on my record because of this... can anyone give any insight?

I don't think you'll automatically get a point even if you submit a SR1.

However, if you opt not to file the SR1, there isn't any real way for the DMV to find out unless you get the damages repaired through insurance and your insurance agent files the SR1 for you (they usually do not).

$750 is probably close enough to your deductible where you're going to pay out of pocket, so no one's going to know if you file the SR1 or not.

The damage was $6000 + due to the impact with the curb... im going through insurance, and nobody was around, nothing other than the car was damaged... I dont even want to give them a chance to put it on my record. I am new with the car (which is why i spun at 20mph around a turn), this sucks.

Then it depends on whether your insurance agent or broker decides to file the SR1 on your behalf. If they don't, then the DMV won't find out unless you file it yourself.

Best thing to do would be to try to find out if it's your insurance provider's standard policy to report accidents, or if they leave it up to you. If they have a phone number for questions, you can usually call and ask without providing your policy number.

Your still probably going to have a record listed with carfax as a lot of auto bodies will report damages over $2000.
