Well the way I see it, it's a great invention. It doesn't seem like it offers anything new because it slips into the cracks, and once it slips there we realize how nice it is. Right now we've all got this dilemma sometimes where we want to go someplace that is not too far, not too close. You could take a bike or rollerblade, but guess what? If you want to have a social time by being able to talk to the person next to you, or if you want to just take it easy, taking a bike or rollerblading aren't the answer. IT is. What about taking a car or walking? Walking takes too long and taking your car to someplace that isn't far away for a car also takes about as long (gotta start up the car, warm it up, drive, hit the red lights, sit, sit, go, red light, sit... there you go. Yes, you can talk to the person next to you (in your passenger seat), but you don't just go greeting the strangers and townsfolk around you from in your car. You can do that from IT. Throw in the argument that this thing is safe and relaxing and efficient, and I would happily start using this thing to go across the street to the market/video store/japanese takeout/Target, etc. If lots of people used these, parking lots wouldn't have to be so big (that sucks, I love parking lots hmmm....), and more interesting stuff could be built or planted in its place.

But whatever, that's just some ideas.

I think the point was, you can do all that for a couple hundred bucks on an electric powered Razor-type scooter. (The only difference is that the Razor has logitudinally mounted wheels, the Segway laterally.)
