Default Windows 2000 problem! Please help!

This all started after lunch - for some reason my Outlook suddenly can't connect to any of my mail servers and spits back the 0x800ccc15 error (TCP/IP error). I can still browse the web (evidence by my post here), but Outlook is telling me it can't connect. It's not the host mail server's problem because everyone else is ok and happily emailing.

One thing I noticed is that I can no longer ping any web address: I get a "transmit failed, error code 65" message.

One website suggest that I rip out the TCP/IP protocol from the control panel and re-install it but I don't have the Win2000CD ROM with me

Any suggestions on where else I can check?

go to http://housecall.antivirus.com would be my first try since I've run across a couple of HAPPY99 errors when I was researching this.

After you scan, the next thing I would do is go to http://www.windowsupdate.com install all the updates needed

then go to http://www.officeupdate.com and install the updates as needed (you might need your office cd)

try to take some screenprints if you can, I think you might be leaving out some error message info or not clicking More... or something.

also try researching it at technet http://support.microsoft.com but you have to try a few different categories and a few different search words. sorry i gotta split, but i'll check in later

everything is current, re-booted (cold and warm both) to no avail.

BTW, i thought it may be an outlook problem and tried others, same problem. So it's most likely my TCP/IP protocol that's screwed

Your winsock stuff is corrupted. You have to rip out the TCP/IP protocol, then delete two keys in the registry. Reinstall TCP/IP and you'll be cool.

PM me and I'll tell you exactly where to find the stuff in the registry. You will not need the Win2K CD. The files it needs are already stored on your PC.
