Default Windows messenger - How might I get rid of this total invasion of crap?

I don't know who the had the nerve to HIDE a program that creates ads on my computer, even though I was never prompted to download anything nor have I downloaded ANY programs on my computer as I just got through formatting it down to the bone - But, I, along with probably millions of others, now have ads popping up offering me such enticing deals like "PAY US MONEY TO STOP SENDING YOU SPAM", and the like. It's truly a shame that I will probably never meet the owner of the company that created this program, because if there was ever a reason to break every joint and bone on someone's body, this would be it.

Anyway, how do I get rid of this shit? Thanks.

I've heard of a program called ad-aware. you can find it at www.downloads.com It is supossed to prevent those from coming up. Hope that helps and maybe someone that uses it can tell you more about it

Actually, it's something that's installed with windows that spammers are taking advantage of.

Here's whatcha do...

Click start, then run. Type in "services.msc"

Then, scroll down till you see "messenger" and right click. Click properties. Where it says "startup type" select "disabled".

That should do it.
