Wireless networking advice - is this a good wireless AP/router ?
i have a linksys, and have no problems connecting to the main router from anywhere in a 4200 sq foot house. My computer is in the basement, and the router is on the other side of the house on the main floor...still connected at full speed! (11 Mbps)
Both Linksys and D-Link are fine. I have a 802.11B wireless Linksys router, and it works fine with all of my laptops and desktops, which are using both Linksys and D-Link network cards. In the earlier days, wireless routers and NICs were sometimes prone to hardware compatibility issues, and that led to bad reputations for certain brands, but that's no longer the case today.
The only thing I would question is whether you need all those bands. Since this is primarily for home use via cable modem, you may not be able to take full advantage of the G band when using the Internet, as you're still bottlenecked from the ISP.
