Default wireless router suggestions

does anyone have any suggestions for wireless routers. my main concern is that i need something with a pretty decent range. basically it will be running from the house to the seperated garage. it will need to go about 50 feet give or take. and it would be through about 3 walls. thanks in advance for any suggestions.

brerspidur,

We own a Linksys Wireless router and have no problem running around the house with the laptop and not loosing reception(router is in the basement). My Girlfriend's neighbor has a linksys also and I can steal his signal from inside her home and the homes are atleast 100ft or so spaced apart. I would definatly recommend linksys.

Regards,
Jonthan

Beyond that I can't give you any advice on specific routers. As far as your distance issue goes you might want to do a search on the internet for "Cantenna" (or check out cantenna.com). People are building directional antennas out of Pringles cans for Wi-Fi that apparently work pretty well. The cantenna site sells their own version of this antenna. If you're handy all of the information to build one is available on the 'Net and if not you can buy one pretty cheap. Good Luck.

Definately take a look at the Linksys wireless router. I have one (B) and it works great. Range is also excellent as well. Can go across my house without any problems with the signal.

Plus, the setup is very easy and there are a lot of settings that you have control over.
