Not a bid for the Oval Office, but how about a (dis)honorable mention to Geraldine Ferraro? She ran for VP in 1984 as part of the disasterous Mondale/Ferraro ticket.

If the talking heads are correct (and if Kerry loses), we may see Hillary making a bid in '08.

what about non white presidential candidates for major parties?? aside from jesse jackson. btw, what party was jesse jackson running under??

Jesse Jackson tried for the Democratic ticket (several times, I believe).

Among actual nominated candidates in the major parties, all were white.

Alan Keyes ran as a Republican for president and he's not white. Agree with him or not he's a hell of a great speaker.
