S2020 What does you avatar read? I was at a hockey game Saturday night and there was a gentlemen with it hanging it from his seat and it was directed to the Ref. Does it spell out anything or is just a normal eye exam?

The point of the game doesn't mean you have to win. There have been many instances where you play for a draw. Chess isn't like basketball, or any other sport (if you want to call it a sport). If someone is going to go into a last round with 4 wins and 0 losses, a draw will still win you the tournament.

If you can get a draw against Kasparov, then you're a hero in my book.

Think of a draw in chess vs. a computer as maintaining your wartime position following an attack. You have a hill worth dying for to protect, it's invaded by enemy forces with untold advantages in strength. In the end, while your own casualties were high, the enemy was forced to retreat and could not accomplish its mission. The hill was held. A victory for the enemy would have been to capture the hill. A loss for the defenders would have been in losing it. Like war, chess plays along the lines that not every battle fought to a draw is a battle lost. Sometimes, NOT losing is a victory. For those looking in from the outside, a draw may not have the comforting inevitiability that comes from a clear victor, but the last bullet (move, if you will) rarely is more exciting than all the ones fired before it.
Does any of this make any sense? It's early.

I'd recommend reading Reassess first (I own both).

Red bullet,
My avatar is just a normal eye chart. You can't read the small letters due to the pixel limit.

I don't understand your question about the hockey game guy.
