paivag, it was made famous by the 1981 song 867-5309/Jenny by the band Tommy Tutone. The song became an icon of early 80's music.

I'm not surprised that this number would go to $33k, what shocks me is that there are still six days left on the auction. Holy crap! At this point I am just incredulous, I won't even hazard a guess as to where it will stop.

wow.

i really wonder about the seller. who are they? when and how did they obtain this number? are they some starving artist that is having an unexpected windfall, or some professional phone-number broker.
