would you push the button?
I dont see how you being able to chose who gets gacked makes it much different. you are still deciding the fate of someone for gain. It does not change or lessen the "sin" for lack of a better term.
to support the button pushing argument: random people die for no apparent reason every day, why not benefit from it LOL

The whole point of the "button" is that you have NO choice.
Could be your significant other, yourself, children, siblings, death row inmate, assisted suiciders or anyone else in the world. You have NO choice.
Since this game is sick to begin with I would imagine an innocent & honest person who is close to you would be the most likely candidate.
I don't have the right to take another persons life, unless it was in self defense.
But if you push the button, please share the wealth

There are too many "what-ifs" in all this discussion... you have all lost sight of the actual straight forward scenario: You push a button... you get 1,000,000 and someone dies.... you don't know who, you don't get to choose how they die, you don't know this persons life and what they have done. I'm sure if you added enough "ifs" anyone would do it... but that is not the case.
No. You are still the agent of both fortune and death. They don't cancel out. My issue is solely with killing someone, much less killing them for money. Removing the money doesn't make me feel any better
No. Killing one person to give money to another is not justified, regardless of the need.
No. As tempting as it would be to assign death to repeat child molesters, rapists, and murderers, it's still not my role in life to decide when theirs ends.
No. I'd still have their death on my conscience.

Basically, it boils down to "Would you murder a random person for a million dollars?" It doesn't matter how you murder them, push a button on a magic box, push a button connected a million volt electric circuit they're connected to, push a button that fires a bullet, whatever. It's still murder.
