It's quite a feat but also looks very amateurish. I'm sure with this first transplant on the record, they will get progressively better. The new nose looks perfect. Pretty much the upper 3/4 of the face looks ok. It's the lower jaw/jowl area that's way off.

Amazing medical achievement but tragic story!
Wait! So he turned the gun on himself, but what happened? How come he wasn't dead? How come she wasn't dead? Must've been the weakest shotgun in the universe to have failed twice. She didn't deserve to be shot (I think though I don't know the whole story behind it) but he turned the gun on himself...and went to prison and not the morgue? 
Culp's husband, Thomas, shot her in 2004, then turned the gun on himself. He went to prison for seven years. His wife was left clinging to life. The blast shattered her nose, cheeks, the roof of her mouth and an eye. Hundreds of fragments of shotgun pellet and bone splinters were embedded in her face. She needed a tube into her windpipe to breathe. Only her upper eyelids, forehead, lower lip and chin were left.
