one of the responsibilities of the court system is to determine which laws are legal and which are not. Humans make mistakes, so all creations humans make have a possibility of being in error.

Obviously there's something wrong with a society where so many people have disrespect for the law. If 85% knowingly speed, then that's a very large percentage that breaks the law and
no respect for the things which the majority have seen fit to empower.

JRM, I know you love preaching the law but to me it's just as bad as the bible totin' whiners that have nothing better to do than bang on my door at 8am on a saturday morning so that Jesus can save me every sunday.

Also, if the law is so complex what makes you think you are so high and mighty to be able to preach it?

What are traffic laws for anyway...to keep us safe while we are sharing public roads, right? So what possible good can the arbitrary enforcement of those laws do? NOTHING! A case in point: how dangerous can it be to drive a modern automobile (especially on like ours) 60mph in a 55mph zone? Yet some would say that the law is the law and that is breaking it. You could ticket a million people a day doing this or a plethora of other petty violations and never come close to the guy who runs a red light and t-bones someone...or the guy who drives drunk and hits someone head on. I am not saying that everyone should go out and do what they please...just that we (as a society) should use a little common sense. That goes for the people under the law as well as the officers enforcing it.

This is crazy!!!
I can't imagine such an abuse of power happening in France or any southern European country (maybe in the UK though).
This is an gigantic waste of time and money. It seems that harrasment of normal citizens is a favorite pastime amongst bored policemen in the US. I say that because I'm a skateboarder and I always hear stories about how the cops spend their time ticketing anyone who dares to practice this sport outside of government-authorized facilities. Don't they have anything better to do? I heard some areas of Oakland were pretty rough...
Sorry to bring the subject again, but I have to laugh when I hear someone mentioning "the land of the free"...
I guess it's just a different culture, but over here, to report someone to the police, you either have to be a Swiss citizen or an ex-Nazi officer

JRM, perhaps if you had a better understanding of California's CVC 22350 and CVC 21656 your arguments wouldn't sound so rediculous to someone who has used them as successful arguments in court.

Your ignorance is a prime example of why I do not respect most of the citizens or the laws of this country. For every ticket or arrest made on me (at least a dozen I can count off hand), I have only been found guilty twice, and those were minor traffic infractions. Appearantly most of the officers' actions were not justifiable by law as shown by the courts. That may be why I have such a strong opinion on the subject, is that nearly EVERY cop that has hassled me has lost his case in court. That count doesn't include the number of time I have been pulled over and the cop realizes that the stop was unjustified and he was just wasting my time.

So go take your "bible" somewhere else and learn to read it before trying to preach it to others.

And I'll vote against you in public office too.
