it's not what it is, it's what it's worth. the woman basically had possession and attempted to sell something that's worth multimillion dollars that does not belong to her. it's not like she was trying to sell her neighbor's lemonade recipe for $10. even if she hadn't attempted to sell the formula, but merely chose to release it on the internet for free, it will end up causing severe catastrophic financial effect to the coca cola company.

You don't steal secrets from a company like Coke and try and sell the to Pepsi - Pepsi has no use for Coke's formula - you sell the secrets to some Chinese manufacturer and then you make money.
