It was my understanding that the S2K still puts out more. Am I mistaken?

To paraphrase: it is like comparing a beautiful apple to an butt ugly prune. The S2000 should never be belittled by a comparison to that car.

I have driven a WRX extensively as my brother just bought one. It is a great all wheel drive sedan, lots of fun, gobs of power but it does not compare with driving the S2000. Everything has a slight delay compared to instant response in the S2000. Acceleration, shift action, turn in, everything has a bit of a lag COMPARED TO THE S2000. Compared to other sedans it is fine. The suspension feels a bit soft as the body rolls a bit but once it takes a set it grips like a mountain goat. It is GREAT in the rain. You drive it like a 4 speed as 5th is overdrive and I believe it is rev limited in 5th but not in 4th.

If you need a neat all weather performance car and don't feel like spending the money on an Audi check out the WRX.

If its your ONLY car its the best choice between the two. I'd get one but I already have the s2000 and an SUV. But If I had one single choice it would be the WRX. If you can wait 2 years the 276+hp special edition which will be out for around $30k which will be a faster car than the S2000.. and then again theres the EVO coming... things to think about!

I spent considerable time driving a dealer's demo WRX 5-speed yesterday, because I'm considering one as my daily driver when my Stook is safely tucked away

The S2K is a pure sports car while the WRX is a rally car.
In terms of performance, the S2k is faster in acceleration and handles better. However, a modded WRX (Boost up) would kill a S2k anyday.. Those boosted ones r capable of low 13's and high 12's in the quarter mile..
