Default WWII Japanese propaganda booklet

it's pretty interesting how similarly all nations will demonize their chosen enemy, and lionize themselves as great saviours.

but I'll leave it at that in the hopes that this doesn't get shit-canned into the Politics forum.

That's not what my grandparents had to say about the Japanese. I can't believe they lied to me.

Interesting stuff.

Interesting. I just read Ghost Soldiers, one of the books about the rescue of the remaining Bataan Death March soldiers from a POW camp in the Philippines.

My father-in-law was a kid during WWII, and the Japanese soldiers used to make him climb trees to get coconuts.

He decided to become a surgeon after a Japanese soldier wounded his best friend with a bayonet and left him to die a painful death with no medical attention.

I read that, best part was them describing what the guys did to pass the time. Like the one guy doing Play-by-Play of baseball games that didn't exist.

My grandfather was in the bataan death march and was in a prison camp during WWII. Brutal times.

My great grandmother was killed with the butt end of a rifle on a train for not bowing down when the Japanese soldiers came on board the train in the Philippine countryside.

Far more brutal than the Germans in 1:1 interaction. Racism against everyone that wasn't Japanese was the propaganda of superiority that justified it within their culture.

Many more accounts are forgotten about Japanese soldiers bayonetting pregnant women in Philippine villages to make examples of and demonstrate the value of Filipinos to the Japanese.

I don't think the culture is like that any more.

My grandma was a child in Korea during the Japanese occupation. To this day, she can sing "Kimigayo" when I ask her just for kicks and giggles.
