One more Pet Peave of this website - not enough "shaving my balls" threads...
Ah I see, well the thing is that nobody in Alberta (the province that Edmonton is in, also my province of current residence) is actually from Alberta. If you're interested: http://www.statcan.ca/Daily/English/060328/d060328e.htm

So it's the imports you're talking to In all fairness I do say eh as well, but it's less "ey" and more eh as in "meh." Just a sound, hard to type phonetically, eh.

I was surprised to find out that that holiday is an acceptable use for vacation. Balls to that. BTW, I rented a houseboat with a few friends and will be out on holiday from Thursday through Wednesday of next week.

They don't even say "Eh?" in Newfoundland. I hear it almost exclusively in Saskatchewan and Alberta. In Newfoundland, they say "b'y", remember?
Fair point...my buddies out here are all Newfies and Nova Scotians and they're all about the "what're ya at, b'y?" type of comments. For those who don't know, that effectively means "What are you doing, friend."

It's more the speech/pronunciation stereotype coming from the east that I was referring to.
