overheating is definitely a MS issue, no matter which supplier's fault it is. it's their product, and when a customer points their finger at someone to blame for that problem, it will be MS. i don't think you can blame people either...when you sell something for that much (or at any price, i suppose), you have to idiot-proof it as much as you can. when 14% of people's xboxes keep crashing, what's MS gonna say..."it's your fault, deal with it"? even if it is the consumer's fault, people without the system are going to hear and think that the new xboxes are prone to crashing a lot. and they'll think twice about buying the system. etc, etc.

anyway, i'm sure MS will deal with the problem if there is one. if they take back the systems, i'm sure they will demand an answer from whichever supplier messed up, and they'll probably charge them to recover as much of the cost as they can.

haha. so...for anyone w/the system, how're you likin it? screenshots look amazing...
My point is that 14% of them are NOT crashing. Thats not a valid poll. Its junk and hype, dont believe it.

Also, if the customer doesnt USE the thing properly, it cant be up to MS to cover everything. For example if the customer immerses it in water, thats not MS's fault. Just as if the customer places it in a tiny enclosure.

Technology is now where the system HAS to breathe. This is the case the XBOX1, and it will be the case with the PS3, and its the case with PCs as well (and car amps). Its not a big deal, just give it some breathing room.

But, in HD, the picture is AMAZING. Not only that, but the normal mapping and textures (as well as smoke and heat and amazing particle effects) are really impressive. And, I expect even more from this thing graphically as programmers improve with the dev kits...

i was just using that 14% as an arbitrary figure...even if it was .5% that's still a lot of xboxes. that .5% of people will complain that's what you'll read the most, because owners w/o problems most likely wont be telling other people about it (unless say, in a thread about crash problems).

i'd argue that putting the thing in an enclosed space is a little different from dropping it in a bucket of water. just how enclosed is too enclosed? for a lot of people, where they set up the system isn't something they think about in terms of what can affect the system's operability.

i dunno, maybe i've just had too much six sigma at work, haha. hopefully i get to check out the system in person soon. i think my friend said he was gonna pick one up at wal-mart at launch night. haven't talked to him since...maybe he's been playin all day.

Hehehe, I can't believe we're all getting fired up over a video game system...then again, as a video game enthusiast, I can definitely relate...I had a feeling something like this would happen...which is why I never buy the first released systems, and wait at least a year till the hype and hoopla dies down...

System/manufacturer bashing aside, if it's having problems, then it's having problems...I'd sure be pissed if my hard earned cash went into something that kept crapping out on me every 20 minutes...this is something I think Microsoft should definitely address, at least as a courtesy to it's loyal customers...

Well it looks like someone has found a temporary fix to the overheating caused by an M$ Design Flaw:

You just need to suspend the power supply in the air some how!

I think any flat surface would work fine.

No if you read the post, it was crashing every 20 minutes when the power supply was on the ground.

Carpet is ideal for home theater(audio) so I would hope that would be OK.

We actually have one all boxed up at Cheryls parents house. We are going to try it out but if it crashes or stalls then we may get rid of it. Or it may end up like my other 4 PS2s....
