Is that the one with a M5 engine in it?

Not the M5 engine, but a 4.0l V8 specifically developed for ALMS.

Yeah, I have to admit it kinda bugs me that the rules of the ALMS call for "production" automobiles, and yet BMW is allowed to run an M3 with a V8 and Saleen runs it's S7R...neither of which is actually being built as a production car.

Even so, that Saleen is one beautiful machine .

I don't really watch ALMS (no speedvision here), but I thought that red/white/blue colored car is PTG's with either inline-6 S54, or the V8 from M5's.

And the one with the 4L V8 is the white/blue Schnitzer car.

Anyway,
New bimmers are getting pathetic. As roundel put it, the E46 M3 is already obsolete even before they reach the showrooms.

At least the E36 was still winning even near the end of its life.

Now the E30... hehe.. it's the king!

at least it's not as bad the "stock car" in NASCAR. Porsche also never released a street version of the 911 GT1 that competed in Le mans ('98 or '97).

Nope, they're now all running the 4L V8's. A limited production model will be released later this year in Europe and I'm not holding my breath for my deposit to materialize for one in the US.

Official unveiling of the limited V8 M3 will be released at the Frankfurt show in September.
