actually, they did a story on yahoo a few weeks back. They are going to change it to a dating service, where it is going to cost you to add friends. so if you hurry up, and start adding them, you won't be charged, but afterwards, i believe it is 8 bucks a month. nothing to sign up, but you have to pay to read the profiles...
