"The Simpson's" will always be the shitznit. It's kind of sad when the most intelligent show on television is a cartoon.

Either way, "The Simpson's" is still an incredible show.

I think they were referring to the "original" Simpsons that was used before commercial breaks of the Tracey Ullman show. Matt Groening was doing his "Life is Hell" print cartoon series at the time, IIRC. That version of Simpsons was more bizarro and less intellectual... Then he merged some of the wittiness of the "Life is Hell" series into the standalone "Simpsons" series. At least that's what I remember of the '90s....
