i have that rice cooker. It's awesome. That quick mode is just awesome. The instant perfect rice, everytime. just 1-1 ratio is all you need. talk about high tech.. fuzzy logic rice control!!... i haven't made the jook yet. i don't like that type. Since i am taiwanese, i like the soupy type...

jook is congee, it is bascially rice with a lot of water and it turns into a porridge/ stew like soup. can be eaten plain, if ur sick or u can add all sorts of things to it, like preserved radish, fried bean curds, tofu, fried dace with black bean, the list goes on

My favorite way to have rice is Japanese style, ie a bowl of rice, a side dish of meat, and a soup (most of the time Meso) YUMMY! ^__^

I swear, the Orient has some of the tastiest and simplest foods out there
