Your Friend Has One Lazy Eye? Which One To Look At?
Hey Wantone,
That lazy eye can probably be fixed (impossible to be 100% certain without examining her). Generally done with a short outpatient surgical procedure with short recovery time. She looks like she's over 15 so her bad sight in that eye is permanent but her appearance will vastly be improved. Will do wonders for her self image, especially for a girl.
I don't know where La La land is but if she lives in So CA PM me and I will email you some doctor name or she can go see her primary care doctor for appropriate referral.
Tell her good luck.

Oh,
I'm don't know any ophthalmologist in Bay area.
She's lucky (relatively speaking, of course), there's alot of good training program around. What I would recommend is to go to UCSF. World class medical school and a very strong ophthalomology program. There are also Stanford, UC Davis, CPMC, all excellent programs.
Ask for a strabismus or pediatric specialist. They do that procedure all the time (usually in children to prevent improper visual development. Once you are pass age 8-10 it's mostly for cosmetic purpose).
Good luck

It sux being the person w/ the lazy eye. I was born w/ one and had operations when younger were they cut the muscles which helped but not 100% As I got older it straightened out and now gets lazy just when I am tired. What sux is sometimes when I am addressing one specific person in a group they are not sure who I am talking too! Other than that I don't think about it and wantone you shouldn't worry about it just try to kind of focus your attention to both your friend's eyes.
