Default Is your work like a Dilbert cartoon?

We have so much stupid shit going on at my work that it is insane....

Our Human Resource lady spends more than 50% of her time studying for some kind of degree.... great, but she should study on her own time.

One guy doesn't feel like opening his emails or sorting through his mail any more..... not sure how he fills the time at his desk.... staring into the abyss.

anyway.... they just hired an "assistant" for $35k to help these two people do whatever it is that they are really supposed to do..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At the same time, I tried to give my Payroll lady 5% instead of 4% for her raise and got shut down. .... so $330 extra per year = NO, but $35k to open emails and watch an idiot study....

and I recently had to convince my boss (He wanted no parts of the tax projects...)to let me do some tax projects to save the company $. It saved us $140k and I got no thanks. It only took 8 hours to save $140k.... doh!

People suck. (i think i should end every post with this comment).

People do suck. My fiance is a sociologist and she ends almost every story with "I hate people." Cracks me up every time.

the corporate world is a funny place. my last job at a national bank was almost exactly like dilbert sometimes... managers that dont really do anything and have terrible ideas...hr people that dunno wtf is going on...people that speak loudly and have a problem with everything...marketing guys overstating a products capabilities...

my favorite dilbert cartoon is when dilbert realizes that the reports he received were incomplete and inaccurate... his manager agrees and proceeds to ask him to secure and encrypt them. i found it really funny.

Absolutely! Many times not intentionally and not even requiring stupid people. But some of his strips hit the bullseye. As an engineering manager I especially enjoy the Marketing and Finance antagonism. But thank God I don't have a pointy haired boss (I do have his boss's boss though, the 100% out-of-touch exec)!

speaking of Dilbert...

I have a friend I used to work with at the "old" AT&T, which has since been gobbled up by SBC, which has also gobbled Bellsouth to form the "new" AT&T.

Now, my friend has a new boss from the SBC side, who is the freaking real POINTY HAIRED BOSS. The guy used to be Scot Adams' boss and is said to be the inspiration behind the character.

Needless to say, my friend (who used to enjoy lots of freedom when I worked there with him) is now in hell. He is micromanaged to death, all from a boss who isn't even in the same location.
