You're Rejected!
Interesting. I had similar experiences when applying to law school (including the re-rejection). I remember 10 years ago when applying to colleges I got rejection letters from Harvard and Yale essentially saying "sorry dude, not good enough."
I'm sure they spend more time wordsmithing their rejection letters than they do considering most of their applicant pool.

Dear Harvard,
I regret to inform you that I just can not accept your rejection of my application for addmittance. It appears that all other universities I have applied to would just not garner the starting salary required by my high standards and need for a new Porsche 911.
I therefore reject your rejection and will begin classes in the fall.
Sincerely,

What difference does the wording of the letter make? The end result is the same. I wouldn't have cared if they just sent back my application with the word "Accepted" or "Rejected" stamped on it. All I needed to know is if I got in or not.
