I'm seeing a dermatologist next week for my ingrown hairs on my face...I've tried lots of remedies and proactive (not the chemical/brand) measures like always using clean, fresh blades...

I use Neutrogena Shave Cream that claims to "reduce ingrown hairs" and the Neutrogena Post Shave cream (also claims to reduce ingrown hairs).

At first, they seemed to work...but I feel as if I'm getting more and more and I avoid shaving as that only irritates matters.

For years, I used to shave and then use rubbing alcohol as an after-shave. It was quick, cheap and effective. But as I started noticing some ingrown hairs, I Google'd some remedies.

Remedy #1 - DON'T USE ALCOHOL as an aftershave. Apparently it messes with your poors and can create more issues.

The rest of the remedies were what I'm already doing, using clean, fresh razors...

Anyway, I plan to see the dermatologist and see what's up with this crap...it's bothering the fawk outta me.

Oh...and back on topic ...nose pimples (in the nose fawking suck). I get one every once in awhile...not often, thankfully...

A couple of things, first do you shave your nose hair using one of those rotary clipper things?

If you do, don't shave them so closely as the shorter hairs don't bend as much and can cause an ingrown hair type of effect that gets infected and acts like a pimple.

Secondly, Lysine and a small daily dose of an antibiotic like Doxycyline can help get rid of pimples. I know that the antibiotic helps control the bacteria that cause the pimple, but I don't know what the lysine does other than it works.

I'm 50 plus and have had pimples my whole life. I sure wish I'd grow out of them. But as long as I take both of them

I use the Neutrogena post-shave lotion; it works well.. but I don't prefer their shave gel/lotion. The best stuff I have used is this Edge stuff.. it's in a white tube with orange logos, and it has peppermint oil in it... great stuff.

What about an electric razor? Doesn't cut as closely, but it wouldn't bury the tips of the cut hairs under the skin.

I've tried an electric razor before and it was really harsh on my skin...they say you have to bear with it...but it was really severe. Maybe my skin is just fawkin' too sensitive...sucks ass.
